The Poetry Shuffler (v 1.0)

The Poetry Shuffler is an ongoing project I began during my MA studies at the Media Lab. Conceptually, I want to play with the order and essence of words in poetry. What signifiance do words and their order hold, if any? If those words were shifted and jumbled, would poems maintain the same meaning?

Technically speaking, the shuffler is built in Javascript, and at the moment, the shuffler works on the granularity of lines. Right now, each of the poems (stanzas, really) are arrays with different strings for each of the lines. Upon each click of the user, the shuffler randomizes the lines of each poem, prints out the shuffled poem, and checks to see if the line's location matches the original poem.

If the shuffled poem's line matches the original line, that line is highlighted. Additionally, each poem has a corresponding background image of which the opacity is affected by the number of lines "correct" per poem. If the entire poem is correct, that background image is set completely opaque. Multiple poems can have multiple lines "correct" at once, which creates a double-exposure of sorts with the various images.
