Making a card with a sensor inside

I created this sensor-embedded card during my time as a designer at Proteus. At the core of Proteus' products is a tiny microchip. This microchip is embedded in medication, and when swallowed it communicates its presence to a patient's smartphone via a sensor worn on the torso.

We put the card between two sheets of plastic in a little window in the card, allowing us to show off the size of the technology. The tagline makes the card a perfect way to open a conversation.

Sometimes this technology can be pretty alienating; it's technical and complicated. So we wanted to make the microchip more accessible, and show people the beauty of it. It's powerful, but it's tiny — only about 1mm across. We're asking people to swallow this as part of their regular medicine, so, in this case, size matters.
